From Barcelona to Valencia to Madrid. Very very hot Madrid. The fast train took us straight to busy Madrid and even though we arrive to the capital of Spain quite late in the afternoon, the heath meet us straight on, smack in the face.

We arrived to our hotel Praktik Metropol Hotel, located right on the busy, kind of touristy street, Calle de la Montera. Think Strøget in Copenhagen or Regent Street in London. A street full of stores, all the worldwide brands you know, restaurants – and lots of people. So bear this in mind when booking.

The hotel itself is a whole other story. The lobby is a small part of the big, gorgeously styled and decorated common area. A long table with stools all around, a sitting area with a chesterfield couch and a cute little coffee station.

The rooms are cute. That is probably the best word to describe the rooms. Cute. My room had a queen-size bed, lit up by a Serge Mouille-like lamp, a smaller toilet and shower room and a direct access to a private balcony overlooking the busy street – much nicer from above.

Speaking of above. On the very top of the hotel, they have a private rooftop terrace. Probably the best place to overlook the city fully equipped with sunbeds, outdoor shower and a lot grasses and flowers planted in raised beds. I don’t think it gets much nicer than this. All in all a beautiful, cute little gem in the very centre of Madrid, with great light clean rooms at affordable prices.
