Hotel Tip: Praktik Metropol in Madrid, Spain | 04-08-2015

There are many ways of traveling. Lately I have experienced a way of traveling that I am not too fond of as it is comprised of very short stays and work projects. Thus it is not the way of recreational traveling but has more a touch of a business trip. Yet again there is one big difference between my short project related trips and classical business trips: I do not stay in bland, boring business hotels with beige carpets and brown curtains. Instead I am staying in fantastic hotels that make even the shortest trip remarkable and fun! One of those hotels was the Praktik Metropol Hotel in Madrid, Spain.

To understand my excitement I must tell you that it was not me booking the hotel – since I was attending a blog tour in Spain, I was booked into the hotel without any prior consultation. Which was yet another reason why I was so fascinated: Because the Praktik Metropol is probably one of the best hotels for an Urban Jungle Blogger like me (you can see another great green hotel in Barcelona on the Urban Jungle Bloggers website by the way). Why? Well let the pictures tell you the story!

The hotel is located in downtown Madrid just a few walking minutes away from the central squares Puerta del Sol and Plaza Mayor. In fact it is ideal if you are on a short trip like a weekend getaway in Madrid. You can discover the main sights by walking from the hotel. But as mentioned my trip was so short, I hardly had time to experience the surroundings in Madrid. But I could not withstand to enjoy a few quiet moments on the most spectacular part of the hotel: it’s breathtaking rooftop terrace on the ninth floor with panoramic 360-degrees views of Madrid.

And all this enriched with lush greens: wild grasses, olive trees, succulents, potted blooming plants. In between those wonderful plants sunbeds, chairs, little tables have been scattered to enjoy the balmy evenings over Madrid’s rooftops. I recommend you go up there for sunset hour with a drink and take in Madrid at its best!

The hotel rooms are small but stylish – a cool urban style with Scandinavian influences creates a perfect serene surrounding to recuperate after a long and most probably hot day out in town. Breakfasts are served in a small Spanish restaurant downstairs and you have the typical choice of slices of toasted bread with tomatoes, little sandwiches, but also sweet pastries, good coffee and juice. In a nutshell: A great place to stay for your next trip to the Spanish capital Madrid! But for now: Happy new week my dear readers!
