My 10 secret Golden Moments in Barcelona |
17-07-2015
Sun, sea, beach, upcoming neighbourhoods, good food, narrow streets, tapas, gorgeous avenues and cool concept stores. Does this have Barcelona written all over it for you too? I was in Barcelona to create a guide for Licor43 (you know, from the delicious cocktails). A very personal one this time! With my golden moments that reflect why I love Barcelona so much. From favourite places to favourite dishes and moments. In this blog I listed them all for you!
10 X GOLDEN MOMENTS IN BARCELONA
1 >> Bocadillos >>
Our flight to Barcelona left at 7 am from Schiphol. So we had our breakfast in Spain! And if there’s one dish that I order straight away when I’m in Barcelona it’s a bocadillo con jamon. A tiny and crispy baguette rubbed with tomato and Iberico ham on top. So good! My favourite spot for a breakfast like this is Tapas24.

2 >> Park Guëll >>
As a city girl I love to hang out in parks on a city trip. And in Barcelona the number one park is the beautiful Park Guëll. With a drink and bites from the local delicatessen store. That’s all you need for a relaxed closure of a day in the city! 10-secret-goldenmoments-barcelona

3 >> Barceloneta >>
Cities that have a boulevard have a special meaning to me. Wether it’s summer or winter, when I’m close to the sea I’m a happier person. My roots in Zeeland must have something to do with that! When I’m in Barcelona I always go to the Barceloneta district.
All the way at the shore of Barcelona you find this nice boulevard with a lot of cute restaurants. Must tries are Makamaka (for tasty burgers), Salt (for the aperitivo) and the W hotel for cocktails with a view!

4 >> TOTO cocktail bar >>
Talking about cocktails… one of my favourite cocktail bars in Barcelona is TOTO on the Carrer de València 246. With nice weather they also have a small patio. After the cocktails you can stay for dinner at the beautifully designed restaurant.

5 >> Wandering around through narrow alleys >>
Barcelona had so many cool neighbourhoods. From authentic and chic to raw, upcoming and trendy. When I’m in the city I always try to discover as much new things as possible. I love wandering around through the narrow streets of El Borne and El Raval. It’s always a surprise what you discover on the next corner!10-secret-goldenmoments-barcelona
6 >> The Praktik hotels >>
While you’re not supposed to be in your room a lot I always like it to be in a nice boutique style hotel. In Barcelona I’m a huge fan of the Praktik hotels. On my last trip I stayed at the Praktik Garden Hotel. This boutique design hotel has a beautiful garden, but I love the view from the balcony even more. Typical Spanish houses!

7 >> Tapas every day >>
On a weekend in Barcelona you probably eat tapas every day! At least I did ;-). I can’t resist those delicious small bites. Every since my first trip to Barcelona I go to Cervecería Catalana. Try to get a spot on the bar or at the patio. This is one of the best tapas bars in Barcelona! Tip: order the Bálon 43 cocktail with Licor43, lemon juice and sparkling water to go with your tapas.

8 >> Street Art >>
As a street art fan I travel all around the world to check out the coolest street art. Often there are artists that paint a lot in specific areas. When the shops close their pieces are suddenly visible on the fences. I always like to do a street art tour with a local who’s in the know. El Borne and El Raval in Barcelona are the places to go for street art. Extra cool: the tours are free!
9 >> Siesta >>
In other and cities and countries I always like to adapt to the local culture. And after lunch time in Barcelona it’s the time for a siësta! On those moments I like to enjoy a drink and stay at a nice place all afternoon. From the window of Cafe Tarannà in the trendy district Poble Sec I love the people watching!

10 >> With your feet in the sand! >>
How nice is this… on the day that you leave Barcelona you can spend the whole day at the beach. With my feet in the sand and a sun kissed skin. I think the beach in Barcelona is one of the best things in the city. Trust me when you’re laying there missing your flight seems like a good idea ;-).
