Good hotels should make you feel right at home, even if you're far away from it. Some places achieve this with friendly staff, others emphasize good design. The new Praktik Hotel Bakery in Barcelona does all these things, but it adds a very special, olfactory layer: the smell of freshly baked bread. But this mini hotel chain with houses in both Madrid and Barcelona just keeps opening great places we want to introduce you to. Praktik Bakery lies in the middle of the beautiful Eixample district of Barcelona, surrounded by pretty Modernist buildings and in walking distance to lots of Barcelona's attractions. The interior of the hotel was designed by award-winning designer Lazaro Rosa-Violán, who incorporated industrial elements, lots of open spaces, plants and stylish furniture to make you feel right at home. But the main feature in the lobby is the bakery that gives this Praktik Hotel its name. Run by Anna Bellsolá, it's called Baluard and produces fresh breads and pastries every day, morning to night. The smell of freshly baked goods fills the hallways when you wake up and draws you right to the great breakfast. As always with Praktik hotels, there's free and fast wi-fi, great staff, and the prices won't break the bank, either. Rooms start at a very reasonable 80 Euro (around 103 USD) for a double room.
